Further activism among the Iotas included community service projects with the NAACP, United Negro College Fund and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. One of their first acts in support of the movement was boycotting a segregated shopping mall in Baltimore shortly after the first chapter formed. This installment, which came during the organization’s second annual gala, held recently in Baltimore, moves the fraternity toward the total pledge goal. As part of the celebration, members pledged $100,000 to establish the endowment through the National Iota Foundation.
